Marcus Smith

Marcus Smith is a proffesional rugby player currently playing for Harlequins. He made his senior debut for Harlequins during the 2017/18 season. Marcus has since gone on to make over 70 apperances and score over 600 points for the Club.

He enjoyed an exceptional campaign in his first season in the quartered shirt, scoring 179 points in 26 appearances, including accomplished performances away to Wasps and at Big Game 10 in front of more than 77,500 supporters. At the conclusion of the campaign, he was rewarded with a hat-trick of prizes at the End-of-Season awards.

He was awared the following awards.

  • IG Players’ Player of the Season
  • adidas Supporters’ Player of the Season
  • Nick Duncombe Young Player of the Season.

Smith was included in Eddie Jones’ England training squad for the Autumn Internationals and the Natwest Six Nations. He was also nominated for BBC Young Sports Personality of the Year. He won the Young Sportsman of the Year at the British Ethnic Diversity Sports Awards (BEDSA).

In 2019/20, Smith’s continued his impressive form, scoring 237 points across his 31 appearances for the Club, earning himself a starting shirt in England’s Quilter Cup match against the Barbarians in June, a fixture where he was named “Man of the Match”. He was also named in Eddie Jones’ wider training squad for the 2019 Rugby World Cup in Japan.
